Here’s a quick taster of my career, up to the point I became a freelance writer in early 2015:

  • 1992: launched journalism career as a newspaper reporter and promoted to sports editor of the Kent Messenger Group’s East Kent Mercury newspaper.
  • 1995: Joined Reuters international news agency, London and was appointed deputy editor and promoted to editor of Reuters Cityscreen – the UK’s first daily news, entertainment and sports website.
  • 1998: Joined Express Newspapers as deputy editor of its sports website, and then became deputy editor of its daily news and entertainment websites, managing a team of journalists, designers and developers.
  • 2002: Founded London’s Editorial & Picture Services (Edpic) digital media agency (now Chroma Agency) with two former Reuters and Express colleagues. Edpic specialised in bespoke daily online content for a wide range of web and mobile clients.
  • 2006 – 2015: Appointed online editor at Saga Publishing/Saga Magazine, running the digital editorial output of saga.co.uk, while working in tandem with the print magazine.
